Operations Department

EVENTS OFFICER

 

TIME COMMITMENT: 2-5 hours per week

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Developing an event outline, while ensuring that all speakers chosen by the Outreach Officers and the Chief Operations Officer adhere to the goals of the event(s)

  • Assisting the operations team with booking small rooms and/or seminar rooms as required for small-scale events (during COVID-19, this will be replaced with assisting with Zoom arrangements)

  • Ensuring that all events adhere to the mission, vision and values of the organization throughout the planning and execution process

 

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS MAY INCLUDE:

  • Strong organizational skills and capability of managing multiple tasks at once

  • Strong verbal communication skills to interact with relevant parties over the phone and in person 

  • Strong written communication skills to interact with relevant parties over email

  • Ability to remain calm during stressful interactions

  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions

 

ASSETS:

  • Experience with planning agendas, either professionally or for personal time management

 

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

 

TIME COMMITMENT: 2-5 hours per week

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Leading and developing programs and workshops

  • Helping the Executive Director and the Chief Operations Officer plan and successfully launch the online educational platform

  • Assisting the Executive Director in updating the educational platform

  • Fulfilling the needs of participants at events

  • Working with the marketing and communications department in the promotion of programs through the creation of any materials or deliverables 

  • Working with the Events Officer to plan the activities in relation to events and programs

 

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS MAY INCLUDE:

  • An expert communicator, applying excellent oral and written communication skills 

  • Proven experience working with different businesses and organizations

  • Strong knowledge of environmental issues

  • Able to work well under pressure of high volume; setting priorities and coordinating multiple tasks with deadlines.

 

ASSETS:

  • Experience running small-scale, local events in the past

 

OUTREACH OFFICER x 2

 

TIME COMMITMENT: 3-6 hours per week

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Finding new ways for Pitch It Green to expand its scale and scope

  • Building relationships with participants, speakers and partner organizations (NOTE: one officer will be more involved with speakers and the other will be more involved with participants, in order to separate the workload easily)

  • Assists the Chief Operations Officer in contacting organizations, businesses and the media

  • Research opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising

  • Prepare and distribute press releases

  • Maintain comprehensive record of contacts (influencers, NPOs, press)

  • Help plan team some fun team socials with the Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer (as COVID-19 permits)

 

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS MAY INCLUDE:

  • An expert communicator, applying excellent oral and written communication skills 

  • Proven experience working with different businesses and organizations

  • Strong knowledge of environmental issues

  • Able to work well under pressure of high volume; setting priorities and coordinating multiple tasks with deadlines.

  • Warm and welcoming demeanour, comfortable with being first point of contact during outreach or events

 

ASSETS:

  • Outreach experience, either via email, in-person or over the phone

  • Strong written communication skills

Marketing & Communications Department

CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER

 

TIME COMMITMENT: 5-8 hours per week

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Directly oversee and lead all marketing and communication with the public and report to Executive Director

  • Creating and distributing frequent newsletters through MailChimp 

  • Working with the Executive Director to strengthen social media branding

  • Coordinating regular social media activity (share and create content)

  • Driving consistent branding and cohesive “aesthetic” of the organization

  • Creating all social media, posters and other promotional materials with the Multimedia Officer

  • During events, must record and post content to social media (in Zoom calls, this includes screenshots)

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS MAY INCLUDE:

  • Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities are preferred

  • Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues

  • Comfortable using social media and interacting with our followers through digital means

 

ASSETS:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s (or Associate’s) degree in communications, journalism or public relations OR a degree in an environmental sub-field & with marketing/communications experience in the past

  • Experience in a leadership role

  • Proficiency in SEO, Buffer, Canva and MailChimp

  • Strong written communication skills

MULTIMEDIA OFFICER

 

TIME COMMITMENT: 1-4 hours per week

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Responsible for taking and editing photos and videos for the organization

    • Capturing, editing and uploading photos and videos during events

    • Curating “commercial” ads for the promotion of the organization and upcoming events 

  • Capture photos of the educational platform and find ways to help the Marketing Officer showcase this across various mediums

  • Work with the Chief Marketing Officer to develop visual content for marketing initiatives as necessary

  • Ensuring that all media comply with the branding guidelines

  • Regularly update the organization’s website content and design

 

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Experience designing various types of media, including posters, social media posts and videos

  • A portfolio of creative works available for the assessment of skills in multimedia during application process

 

BLOG WRITER

 

TIME COMMITMENT: 1-4 hours per week

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Responsible for creating blog content regarding sustainability in business

  • Must take original photographs and prepare enticing captions for readers

  • Collect insights from events 

  • Post reflections on the blog on behalf of the team

  • Work with the Executive Director on possible blog topics and a posting schedule

 

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Writing experience or familiarity with environmental issues

  • Exceptional writing, research, and communication skills

  • Creativity and adaptability

  • Strong understanding of the target audience and industry trends

  • Proficiency with computers, especially content management software, social media platforms, MS Office, and SEO keywords

 

ASSETS:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or related field

  • Has written blog articles or other publicly available works before (links to relevant work can be included in the application)

  • Strong written communication skills

A willingness to learn new skills, acquire knowledge, and openness to new experiences is all that is required of applicants.
